Does the library have computers for children?
Currently, Children’s Services offers ten computers with Internet and Microsoft Office, and four games computers appropriate for younger children.
How old do I have to be to use a computer?
Children’s Services has computers available for kids from sixth grade and younger. Older kids must use computers in the Teen Department. All kids must bring their own library card with them to get on a computer.
How long may I use a computer?
The Library uses computer reservation software to schedule and automate computer reservations. Kids must bring their own library card with them to make a computer reservation. You may use a computer for an hour at a time, and time will automatically be extended if there are no other reservations. You may make reservations in person or by calling (630) 483-4923. The computers fill up fast – especially at night during the school year. Advance reservations are strongly recommended.
How many kids may use the same computer?
Only two children may use a computer at one time.
May I use software or games that are not already loaded on the games computers?
No, only games currently on the games computers may be used.
How do I print from these computers?
The Library uses coin-operated centralized printing. All print-outs must be paid for before they will be printed. Staff are available to assist with printing.
Where do adults use computers?
Adults must use computers in Adult Services. Adults also need a valid library card to make computer reservations.
