Staff members are available to help you choose the perfect book to meet your reading needs. Using printed guides and the Novelist database, staff can help you find a novel or a mystery that will match your reading interests. Three book discussion groups meet from February through November each year:

  • Books and Bagels (2nd Wednesday at 10:30 am)
  • Bookies (1st Thursday at 7:00 pm)
  • Mystery Book Discussion (4th Thursday at Noon)

No registration is required and all are welcome. Refreshments are served. Mystery by the Book members should bring a brown bag lunch; dessert and drinks are provided. All meetings are held in the Meeting Rooms at Poplar Creek Library, 1405 S. Park Avenue, Streamwood, IL 60107. Books may be picked up one month prior to the meeting at the Reader’s Advisory Desk.

Other programming includes summer and winter reading programs for adults, and displays and bibliographies to meet your reading interests. The NoveList database is a good tool to use to find something new to read. You may access it through our website either in the library or from home using your Poplar Creek Library card and pin number. Our online catalog includes many best seller lists and book award lists, which will help you choose a book. Call the Reader’s Advisory Desk for assistance.
